Princeton Futsal Academy

Program Overview

Princeton Soccer Association (PSA) is pleased to announce a program designed to enhance the skills of our more advanced players by offering them an opportunity to further their soccer development. Futsal is a version of indoor soccer (5v5) that stresses ball control, balance and proper technique.

Philosophy

The game of Futsal places an emphasis on improvisation, creativity, and technical mastery of the basic skills of dribbling, passing, receiving, and shooting. The players will come out of the program will better skills than when they arrived, and with added confidence to take these new skills onto the field with added effectiveness.

Why Futsal?

Futsal is the only indoor game sanctioned by FIFA. If skills development is important, Futsal is recognized as clearly the best form of indoor soccer. But that’s not the only reason. Some of the most skilful and talented all started their soccer development in futsal. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho both credit futsal for making them the players they are today. Some of the most successful soccer nations like Brazil, Italy, Spain, Holland, and Argentina all use futsal as the basis for developing their youngest players.

Training Format

All teams will train once a week for 1.5 hours.

Training will be broken down into 30 minute blocks consisting of technical, tactical, and open play.

Technical

Dribbling, passing, receiving, and shooting as it relates to futsal. The sole of the foot and toe is used very frequently in futsal with great effectiveness.

Tactical

Attacking and defending in the “box” which we believe is the most effective way of playing futsal.

Open Play

5v5 scrimmage play to allow the players to develop their technical and tactical skills at a futsal championship game pace.
