PSA Indoor Training Emergency Procedure
The Princeton Soccer Association always seeks to provide your child with the safest
environment possible in which he or she can learn the game.
Recently, we reviewed our indoor training program with an eye toward ensuring safety under all conditions. We realized that there is potential for unsupervised children during an emergency in which either:
1) a trainer needed to tend to an injured player, taking his attention away from the group, or
2) a trainer was unable to make it to practice on time.
To address the first situation, PSA has required teams to provide a parent chaperone at training sessions in the past, and will continue to do so. This provision has now been implemented in the Travel Development Academy (TDA) program. The parent chaperone’s role is simply to come to the training session, make his or her presence known to the trainer, and remain nearby in case of an emergency. TDA parents have stepped forward and volunteered to cover the remaining training sessions for their winter training groups. We urge all of our travel teams to continue to work with their respective parents in order to provide a chaperone at each training session during the indoor season.
In the case of the second situation, we have recently instituted an emergency contact phone list on the PSA hotline. If a trainer were not to show up to a gym, a parent, parent chaperone, or guardian would need to call the PSA hotline (609.921.8860) in order to obtain an emergency contact phone number. The emergency contact list can be found by pressing “3” on the main menu.
Thank you very much for your cooperation as we implement these safety procedures.
