Matthew began playing soccer In his home country, England, at the age of 6, playing for local and representative teams throughout is childhood. At the age of 16 Matthew was selected to play with a U19 select team that travelled to play in the prestigious Dallas cup, Texas. Matthew attended the Dallas cup for three straight years, in his final year captaining the side to the Cup Semi-Finals. 

Matthew took the step to to play adult soccer from the age of 16, and was scouted to Semi-professional side, Southport F.C, at the age of 17. He stayed with Southport F.C for 3 years, making a number of first team appearances which included playing & scoring in the famous F.A. Cup 3rd round. After Southport Matthew spent 3 years at Burscough gaining promotion and being part of many successful cup encounters. In 2004 Matthew had a brief spell at St Helens Town but then moved on to the club where he played most of his semi pro soccer, Warrington Town AFC. Warrington town was where he settled most, Matthew’s time spent there was littered with promotions, cup runs and great soccer games.

Matthew began his soccer coaching career in 2002 when he passed the English FA level 2 coaching badge, since gaining this badge he has coached numerous youth soccer teams in the Liverpool, England, including youth teams from professional outfit Everton F.C. Due to Matthew’s extensive youth soccer career as a coach and player he feels that he has the tools to be able tackle any situation that may arise both on and off the field, and looks forward to the challenge of coaching in the Super Y league.

In March 2009 Matthew moved over the the US, coaching a number of very successful youth soccer teams, which includes winning tournaments in PA, NY, NJ & MA, and gaining JAGS promotion. For 2010 matthew joins the PSA Super Y League staff as head coach of the U13 Girls and U17 Girls.
